Training Services
From Academic Computing
[edit] Training Center Workshops
The Academic Computing Technologies Training Center is located on the sixth floor of the Tampa Campus Library, Room 618A. The training services are available to students registered with at least one credit hour and any USF instructor or faculty member.
It is not necessary to register for a ACT workshops, unless otherwise noted. We highly recommend that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the workshop in LIB618A to secure a seat.

[edit] Guest Lectures
ACT provides guest lecturing services for faculty. An ACT Trainer will come to your class room and provide instruction on USF computing services, computer skills training, or prearranged materials. The majority of our workshops are hands-on skills training.
To request the guest lecture service contact Robert Cooksey at 974-3286 or rcooksey@ritchie.acomp.usf.edu at least 2 weeks in advance of the requested class.
We need to determine the following information to setup a class:
- Training topic needed / requested
- Amount of time required for training topic
- Delivery method: hands-on lab or lecture
- Potential dates and times for training
- Location for training
For hands-on instruction a computer lab will need to be reserved by the faculty member - each college has contacts for lab reservations.
For lectures, AV equipment will need to be setup in class (computer, projector, internet connection) by the faculty member unless otherwise arranged.
[edit] Technology Consulting for Research and Instruction
The training team will aid faculty, instructors, and graduate students in identifying and solving technology issues as they relate to research and instruction. We will not implement solutions, but we will help decompose the complexity of technology issues, recommend solutions, and train and support the academic community as best to our ability within the limits of our resources.
If you should have questions, please email actrainers@acomp.usf.edu.
For Staff computer training, please contact Educational Outreach.
