[edit] Purpose

To provide instructions on the use of the Temporary Student tool. The Temporary Student tool allows for the instructor to create a temporary student to test various functions within their course.

[edit] Creating a Student

  1. Go to the control panel of the course.
  2. Click the Create Temporary Student link.

  1. You will be given the name of a student, user name and password.

Use the given user name and password provided to log in as the student. The temporary student will be seen in the Gradecenter as "Ferris Bueller" The account is not permanent and must be re-created every 24 hours.

Repeat the steps above to add the student to other courses. DO NOT enroll the student through the add/remove student link in the control panel.

[edit] Logging in at the Same Time

You can log in with your instructor NetID and the temporary student NetID at the same time by using two browsers. Log into one browser using your instructor login and in the other browser log in as the student. It does not matter which browser you use for each account. If you do not have a second browser you can download Mozilla Firefox.
