Student Organizations
From USF Information Technology
There is a new way of requesting, managing, and joining organizations. It can be found through Blackboard at my.usf.edu, located in the Organizations tab.
[edit] Requesting the creation of a new Student Organization
To request the creation of a new organization, click the request button. Fill out the form on the next page including the organization's full name, campus, category, its purpose, and reason for establishment. Also, include one faculty or staff Netid and five other student netIDs (There must be a faculty or staff ID first). You can leave the optional spaces blank for now if you want to. You can fill them out or change them later. Read the statements, check off the agreement box and click submit.
[edit] Managing an Organization
If you are an officer or adviser to an organization, you can manage the role and details of the organization. Click the search button to pull up the Organization Search page. In the drop down menus, select My Organizations and the campus of choice and click search. A list of your organizations will show up. Next to each item there will be two icons, membership and details.
In membership, you can add a new member and change a member's role. To add a new member, enter their Netid in the box in the upper left-hand corner of the page and click add. To change a member's role, including removing them, under the role column, select the drop down menu and select what you want to change their role to. (Do not click Back. Click the icon next to Organization Membership to take you back to the previous page.)
Under Details, you can change the organizations name, acronym, campus, web address, etc. If you are an Administrator, you should some more fields above these and a place to change the status of the organization. Once the status has changed to approved, you can only change the web address, email address, and phone number.

[edit] Joining and Leaving an Organization
To join an organization, click on the same search button that takes you to the Search page. Select the Category and Campus and click search. When you find the desired organization, click its name. A box will come up with all its information. At the bottom right-hand corner of the box, there will be a button that says "Request to Join Organization". Clicking that sends an email to one of the officers of the organization who will manually add you to it. To leave an organization, go through the same process but the button will say "Request to Leave Organization".
