Problems with Receiving Email
From Academic Computing
[edit] Problems with Forwarding
Sometimes there are problems with email providers such as AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. due to the way that we forward email. These emails are delivered in large loads and many providers suspect that we may be SPAMming.
We do not recommend forwarding, however if one does forward and runs into problems, then contacting the company receiving the forwaded email for information as to how to allow email from acomp.usf.edu would be the next step. Contacting our Help Desk would also be helpful so that we can inform others that this might be occurring.
[edit] Problems with Checking mail.usf.edu Accounts with Outlook
We have seen instances of Outlook filtering emails sent from Blackboard into the SPAM/Trash folder. To stop this from happening, you need to let Outlook know that it can trust emails from acomp.usf.edu .
To do this:
1. Open Outlook 2. Go to Actions -> Junk Email -> Junk Email Options -> Safe Senders 3. Add acomp.usf.edu to the list
This will allow mail from the Blackboard servers to pass through to the inbox.
