[edit] What are Podcasts?

A podcast is a series of audio or video files distributed from a single source for download over the internet. It's sort of like a news feed, but for audio and video files. People who subscribe to the feed's web address (using a feed reader or iTunes) will be able to download the new media files as they are added.

[edit] Can I use them with Blackboard?

Blackboard supports podcasting through the use of Podcast LX™ from Learning Objects. To learn more about implementing this in your course, click here.

Podcasting for your course provides a way for students to absorb course material on their own time. Digital music and video players are widespread enough that many users will benefit from being able to listen or view material virtually anywhere.
