How to Link Content Collection Content to a Course

The content system can be thought of as a file cabinet where you store, retrieve and share files.
[edit] Linking Content Management System Content to a Course
This document will show you how to link to a document inside the Content Management System. If you want to see how to upload a document to the Content Mangement System the please see click here.
To link a document from the Content Management System please follow these steps.
- Step 1 - Click on the "Courses" tab at the top of the screen and select a course you are teaching
- Step 2 - Next click on the "Control Panel" link to get to the instructor view
- Step 3 - Next select a content area you want to link the document to (for example Course Documents or Assignments).
- Step 4 - Next Click on Add Item, near the upper left part of the screen.
- Step 5 - Enter Name, and if wanted text. Scroll down to section 2 Content. Click browse across from Link to content collection Item. The Content Management system should now apear on the screen.
- Step 6 - Select the document you want to make available and click Submit. If you have a large number documents you can create a folder, add the documents to the folder and upload the folder.
- Step 7 - After you click submit you might see this message, just click Yes to give read permission to the file for the members of the course.
- Step 8 - After you give read permission to file, the name of the file will appear in the Browse Content System box letting you know the procedure was successful.
- Step 9 - (Optional) Set the view date restrictions
- Step 10 - Submit
Congratulations! You have successfully published a file from the Content Managment System to your course! To remove the link simply click the remove button next to the item. This will safely delete the link, and the original item will remain intact in the Content Management System.
