How to Create Flash Cards

[edit] Introduction

Below is the multi-step process that instructors may use to create and link flashcards to their course.

[edit] Enable the Flash Card Module

  1. Sign-in to Blackboard.
  2. On the blackboard "Welcome!" tab, click "Contents" in upper right corner.
  3. Scoll through the list of modules until you see "Virtual FlashCards".
  4. Check the box.
  5. Click "Submit".
  6. Click "Ok".

[edit] Creating a Stack of Flashcards

  1. Create a set of cards within the module by clicking "Create Flashcards".
  2. Name the set, classify the set.
  3. Make them shared flashcards so that you may link to them later from inside your course.
  4. Now, once you finish creating a set of flashcards, click "Complete Stack".

[edit] Finding the Link to the Stack

  1. Click "Search Flashcards".
  2. Enter the name of the set that you created.
  3. Click "Search".
  4. Right-click on the link to the set of cards that you created.
  5. Left-click "Copy Shortcut".
  6. Paste the link to a temporary location (i.e. A word document or notepad).

[edit] Creating an External Link within your Course

  1. Go into the course where you want the flashcards to appear.
  2. Click "Control Panel".
  3. Under Content Areas, select the content area where you want to put the link to the flashcards.
  4. Click the "+ External Link" button at the top of the list of other items.
  5. Label your link (i.e. Flashcards: Chapter 1)
  6. Paste the link acquired from the previous set of 6 steps into the URL field.
  7. Enter a description if you would like.
  8. Click "Submit" once you go through the other options, defaults should be fine.
