The course tools area of the control panel contains tools that the instructor can use that have some type of direct effect on the course. The tools in this area can be made available/unavailable by click on manage course tools. Below is a list of currently available tools.

The Couse Tools area is located in the middle left-hand side of the screen, below Content Areas.

The following features are provided:

• Announcements - Allows the instructor post announcements
• Course Calendar - Allows the instructor post events on the course calendar
• Staff Information - A specific area to post instructor information
• Tasks - Allows the instructor create tasks for sutdnets
• Send Email - Allows the instructor send email to users
• Discussion Board - Gives the instructor access to created and course discussion boards
• Collaboration - An entry way to the vitural classroom and chat sessions
• Digital Dropbox - Instructor access to the Digital Dropbox
• Glossary Manager - A course Dictionary where the Instructor can add terms
• Messages - A tool to allow internal Blackboard communication between student(s) and instructor
• Link Checker - A tool that checks link to ensure they are working
• Course Portfolios - portfolios that have been shared with the course
